Sri Lankan universities grade on a 4.0 scale defined under UGC guidelines: A grades carry 4.0 down through B (3.0) and C (2.0) to E (0.0), and each course is weighted by its credit value. Your GPA is the credit-weighted average, and your degree class falls out of it: First Class at 3.70 and above, Second Upper at 3.30, Second Lower at 3.00, and a Pass at 2.00, under the boundaries most faculties publish.
This calculator applies exactly that arithmetic and shows the classification band your entered GPA lands in. Two honest caveats: individual faculties can set their own boundaries or exclude certain modules (repeats, non-GPA electives) from the calculation, and final classes are decided on the complete transcript, so treat the band shown here as the working answer and your faculty handbook as the final one.

What GPA do I need for a First Class in Sri Lanka?

A cumulative GPA of 3.30 to 3.69 is Second Class (Upper Division) at most Sri Lankan universities, with 3.00 to 3.29 earning Second Class (Lower Division).
Do all Sri Lankan universities use the same scale?

Are repeated modules counted?
