About GradeKiln
The questions people ask about this site, answered plainly.
What is GradeKiln?
GradeKiln is a set of free GPA calculators, one per published grading scale: US college and high school scales, and the 4.0 scale used by Sri Lankan universities including SLIIT. Each one runs the credit-weighted arithmetic registrars actually use.
Is GradeKiln free?
Yes. Every calculator is free, with no signup, no account, and no limits. The site is supported by ads.
Does GradeKiln upload or store my grades?
No. The math runs as plain JavaScript in your browser. Courses and grades are saved only in your own browser's local storage so they survive a refresh; nothing is transmitted, and the pages keep working offline.
Which grading scales does GradeKiln support?
The standard US college 4.0 scale with plus/minus grades, the US high school scale with weighted (Honors +0.5, AP/IB +1.0) and unweighted results, and the Sri Lankan UGC 4.0 scale with First Class, Second Upper, and Second Lower boundaries, including a SLIIT-specific page.
How accurate are GradeKiln's calculators?
Each page implements the published scale it names and shows you the exact grade-point table it uses. Faculties set their own boundary and repeat-policy rules, so your institution's current handbook is always the final authority; if you spot a scale that is wrong or out of date, tell us and it gets fixed.
Is GradeKiln affiliated with any university?
No. GradeKiln is independent and not affiliated with any university or institute. It is a sibling of FileKiln, in-browser file converters built on the same local-only principle.
